'NEWBIES GUIDE TO THE AFL'
Unfortunately with all the publicity that is given to the World Cup tournament and the New South Wales vs. Queensland State of Origin series, there are some people in the world who think that Sooker and Thugby are the ONLY Football games that are played around the planet.
Even more surprising are the amount of people who think they are the best sports that one can play.
Those people should pull their heads out of the sand and take a peek at Aussie Rules!
And if you don't know anything about Aussie Rules, then find out where your local team plays in the 'Where In The World' section of this site and get along to a game.
Or catch a game of the AFL on the TV or Internet.
For the un-educated, the AFL is the Premier competition featuring the best players in the sport, and to help you learn a bit about it, AustralianRulesFootball.com.au is pleased to present our 'Newbies Guide To The AFL'.

SPONSOR-A-MASCOT
The majority of Aussie Rules clubs around the world have a member of the Animal Kingdom as their mascot.

Many of these species are endangered, but thanks to the wonderful network of zoos, sanctuaries & wildlife reserves around the world, there is still some hope for these species.
And abandoned, and ill-treated domestic animals need help from numerous local and international organisations.
However, like a footy club, money is required to help feed, house & treat the animals.
Visit AustralianRulesFootball.com.au Sponsor-A-Mascot section to see if your club’s mascot needs a sponsor.

Plus there are lots of other worthwhile causes to help out in the Sponsor-A-Mascot section if your footy team is called "The Blues', The Heat' or something not animal related.

AUSSIE RULES ON THE INTERNET

There are some fantastic Aussie Rules websites on the internet. From small hobby sites created by footy fans to big professional sites, wonderful sites full of history to sites created by ex-players and coaches.

The AustralianRulesFootball.com.au Aussie Rules On The Internet links pages will eventually have links to all of these great sites that promote the greatest game in the world.

If you have an Aussie Rules site that is not listed yet, please send us your site logo (jpg. or gif. image) and URL so we can add it to our AustralianRulesFootball.com.au Aussie Rules On The Internet links pages. Any club, league or association logos will be placed on the corresponding page within the AustralianRulesFootball.com.au Where In The World? directory.
We would appreciate it if you would also place a link to AustralianRulesFootball.com.au on your site as well, using one of the logos below:

FOOTY WIDOWS
A Footy Widow is the unfortunate member of a couple who usually stays at home while their partner is occupied with playing Aussie Rules, training, attending meetings, attending matches, functions or just generally being involved with the game. Usually the Footy Widow either has no interest in the game (strange, but true!) or has family or home duties to attend to.

As Aussie Rules gets more professional and time consuming, the amount of Footy Widows increases.
So AustralianRulesFootball.com.au has created the Footy Widows section with lots of things that have nothing to do with Aussie Rules, or any other sport.

Horoscopes, free online games, shopping, holidays, fashion, relationships, children, gardening and entertainment make up some of the content of the Footy Widows section.

In fact there is even something there for those who hate Aussie Rules (and sports in general)...although we at AustralianRulesFootball.com.au are at a loss to understand why anyone would dislike the greatest game on earth!
(P.S...This section is open for anybody to enjoy, not just Footy Widows!)

NEW CONTENT ADDED ON A REGULAR BASIS!

HEADLINES FROM HISTORY
Scandals, memorable matches and game shaping moments.
There have been some astounding, tragic and hilarious stories that have graced our newspapers, televisions and radio airwaves.
AustralianRulesFootball.com.au Headlines From History will revisit some of those Aussie Rules incidents that have made the national, and sometimes international newsdesks.
COMING SOON...
They were probably being used by some players for many years prior, but we were all shocked when proof of usage of banned anabolic steroids surfaced at the top level of our great game. Not only because they were proven performance enhancing drugs but also because the users were in danger of asking "Where have my testicles gone, Doc?".
