THE CLUBS

WOMEN'S FOOTY IN SOUTH AFRICA
Although there are no 'all-female' teams playing competition footy in South Africa at the moment (2008), there is still a strong participation by females in different areas of the game.

Like 'Auskick', the successful introductory 'footyWILD' Big 5 and Game Day programs cater for Primary school children of both sexes.

There is also a strong female contingent involved as team managers and volunteers.

But perhaps the biggest involvement is the amount of females taking up one of the most difficult aspects of Aussie Rules...Umpiring!

Once Footy is firmly established in the four Provinces (above), then creating Women's & Youth Girls competitions will certainly be on the agenda of AFL South Africa.

And with the active involvement of AFL teams, and the continued good work being done by the devoted & hard working group at AFL South Africa, then the possibility of 'all-female' teams playing 'footyWILD' in South Africa might be a lot closer to being a reality than many people would think.
